Some years ago, my investors said something to me I did not want to hear.
They told me I was slowing the company down. XTRF had close to a hundred people by then and it was growing fast. I was working all hours and giving the business everything I had. So when they said I was the one holding it back, my first reaction was simple. It felt like an insult.
It took me a while to admit they were right.
Here is what I had not seen. Every meaningful decision in the company travelled through me.
And a single person, however committed, has only so many hours and only so much energy. I had not failed by working too little. I had become a ceiling by being involved in everything.
Too much was on my shoulders because too much was in my head.
